Donald D. Dimeler

Donald D. Dimeler, 74, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness.  Born July 13, 1942 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Donald D. and Ora (Barnhart) Dimeler.  He was married to Nancy L. (Gebhard) Dimeler for 17 years.

Don served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was the Maintenance Supervisor for the PA Dept. of Corrections Training Facility in Elizabethtown, retiring in October of 2003.

In the earlier part of his life he was active in the community serving as a head football coach with the Elizabethtown Boys Club. Don was a lifetime member of the  Elizabethtown Fire Department serving in many roles including Fire Chief.  Don was also a member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post #329.

Don enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed racing and was a long time car owner in the late model division at Silver Springs Speedway. He also enjoyed riding atv's, camping and fishing at the beach.

In addition to his wife of over 17 years, he will be lovingly missed by a son, Douglas Dimeler (Christine), of Elizabethtown as well as many grandchildren. Also surviving are three step-children: Stacey L. Gebhard, of Elizabethtown; Teri Newell (Larry), of Wasilla, AK and Ed Straub (Cindy), of Gran Marais, MN.  He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dawson Dimeler.

Private burial will take place in Mount Ober Cemetery, Elizabethtown.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 144 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1380.
