Theodore “Ted” A. Salter, Jr., 96, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Selinsgrove, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born Thursday, July 23, 1925 in Selinsgrove, he was the son of the late Theodore A., Sr. and Stella Marie (Heckard) Salter. He was married 64 years to Lovinabelle (Shaffer) Salter who passed away in December of 2008.
Ted was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was present at the signing of Japan’s surrender on the USS Missouri. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown and was a member of Lafayette Lodge #194 F&AM, Selinsgrove. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ted is survived by a son Derwin Lee Salter and wife Ann of Elizabethtown; three granddaughters: Jennifer Roush and husband Kevin; Beverly Steimling-Finchum and Mary Steimling and six great grandchildren: Kevin Roush Jr., William Steimling, Nicholas Steimling, Cheyenne Green-Howard, Aurora Finchum, Timothy Gill. He was predeceased by a daughter Lorene D. Salter Pierce and a sister Mildred Salter.
Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ted’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
