Helen Dorothy Hershey Williamson, 100, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Masonic Village. Born in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Levi C. and Emma Landis Hershey. She was widowed by her husband, Chester G. Williamson, in 1990.
Helen graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 1936. She went on to work part-time at her father's Red Rose grocery store until its closing in 1971. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, a member of the Elizabethtown Flower Club, and a master quilt maker. Helen was also a grandparent volunteer at Rheems Elementary School for 19 years. In her free time, she was an avid fisherman and metal detector, finding hundreds of coins and other treasures. When her grandson went to college, she learned to use a computer so that she could stay in contact with him.
Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chet & Laurie Williamson of Elizabethtown, and grandson Colin Williamson of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Edwin Hershey and Martha Trimble.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Visitation will be held from 10-11AM prior to the service. Interment of ashes will take place at the family’s convenience at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Colebrook.
