Robert A. Mellott

Robert Alvy Mellott, 79, of Elizabethtown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Born in Prattsville, NY, he was the son of the late Lynn and Ethel (Delamarter) Mellott.

Robert was a very patriotic man, and was a member of the Elizabethtown American Legion Post 329, VFW Post 5667, and the Moose Lodge 596. He was a handyman who was a fixer-of-all, and liked to do different wood working projects for his friends and family. Robert was also an avid gardener. In his younger years he was a NASCAR fan and went to Dover for the race every year.

Robert is survived by four children: Ethel M. Hammond (Frederick) of Stanford, NY, April R. Young (Shawn) of Ft. Benning, GA, Robert J. Mellott (Karen) of Gilbersville, NY, and Ronald A. Mellott of Boniva, NY; six grandchildren: Ben, Joe, Brian, Malia, Cheryl, and Kayla; four great grandchildren: Cole, Ethan, Evie Grace, and Savannah; three brothers: Donald Oliver, Henrey Oliver, and William Mellott; two sisters: Lila Soule, and Florence McNadams; and someone who was like family, Mike Bowles. Robert’s family is grateful for all the care and friendship he gave Robert.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Elizabethtown American Legion Post 329, 240 N. Hanover St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Boyer Funeral Home, Inc. 144 E. High St., Elizabethtown.
