J. Harold Gerber

J. Harold Gerber, 84, of Mount Joy passed away on June 17, 2015. Born February 25, 1931 the 10th of 11 children of the late Harry S. and Naomi W. (Hoffer) Gerber. He was raised in a home where worshipping God, honesty and hard work were taught and lived. He graduated from Bainbridge and Elizabethtown High Schools. He served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers with the 32nd Engineer Group in South Korea in 1953-54. He was married to Martha A. Roland on April 23, 1955. Martha died in February 2013. They were the parents of three children, Wesley (wife Nettie) Gerber of Bainbridge, Wendy (husband J. Michael) Melhorn of Mount Joy and Joel (wife Deb) Gerber of San Antonio, TX. There are four grandchildren, Jonathan Gerber, Aaron Melhorn (fiancée Samantha Kaufhold), Katie Gerber and Andrea Melhorn. He is also survived by a brother, Luke (wife Mary) Gerber of Columbia, PA. Harold loved missions work and volunteered on construction projects on five continents and many US states. Martha traveled with Harold many times and helped in the work.

A memorial service will be held at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church in Mount Joy on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends and relatives following the service.
