Barbara Jean (Atticks) Carnes

Barbara Jean (Atticks) Carnes, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Masonic Village.  She was born Saturday, November 1, 1930 in Harrisburg to the late Paul Atticks and Pauline (Bricker) Carpenter.

A homemaker for most of her life, Barbara was also an avid reader and enjoyed completing word searches.  She will be remembered for her love of ceramics and playing cards, especially pinochle and the board game, Parcheesi.  Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her love of her family.

She will be lovingly missed by four daughters, Brenda A. Ford and husband Jack Staples, of Elizabethtown, Yvonne Shoff and companion Edward Rosenquist, of Lititz, April L. Mooney, of Marietta, Lillian M. Carnes, of Marietta; two sons, Morris L. Carnes, of Hollidaysburg and Bernard A. Carnes, of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Carpenter, of Harrisburg, Gary Carpenter, of Linglestown; a sister, Diane Deaven, of Hershey as well as Barbara’s extended family and caring friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Freemason Drive, Elizabethtown, PA.  Burial will follow in the Columbarium at Sell Chapel.   Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at Sell Chapel from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 144 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
