Ruth M. (Long) Rice

Ruth M. Rice, 79, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born at Masonic Homes, she was the daughter of the late Elvy and Mary Long. She was the wife of Jack Rice to whom she was married 55 years.

Jack and Ruthie camped for 40 years, and loved to travel and take the back roads to see the country. They have been in all 50 states. She graduated in 1955 and is retired from Continental Press. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown for over 50 years.

Surviving are three children: David, married to Candice of Illinois; Danette Nickel of Elizabethtown and Danese, married to John Snyder of Colorado; five grandchildren: Jessica Nandi and Caitlin Rice, Cody Nickel; Jacob and Jordan Snyder and one great granddaughter Calee.

She was predeceased by three sisters: Helen Carter, Elsie Long and Frances Snyder. Ruthie had a rare skin condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa and endured it her entire life.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 North Locust Street, Elizabethtown at 2:00 PM. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
