Pleasant LeRoy DeShong

Pleasant LeRoy DeShong, 76, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2016.  He was born one of nine children on Monday July 1, 1940 in Licking Creek Twp. to the late Pleasant Ellsworth DeShong and Emma Myrtle (Keefer) Mellott.  He is survived by his loving wife Carol Virginia (Stephens) DeShong.      

LeRoy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW Fred Barley Post 5667.  He was employed by the ITT Grinnell Corporation where he first worked as a laborer and then moved to management.  Most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  

He is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah DeShong and Michelle Moody; 3 sons, Pleasant Lee DeShong, Howard DeShong and wife Jessica, and Jeffrey DeShong; and 7 grandchildren. 

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., 144 E. High St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.   

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Voluntary Services Dept., 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
